Welcome Gregory, is nice to have this interview with you my friend. The question is: how goes the recording of the new album? And what is the most difficult in this recording session?
Well, we will not start the actual recording until February, 2012 and we hope to release it by late March 2012. We are recording this album the true old school way, on analog equipment, We will not use computers to fix mistakes or enhance our performance in anyway. So, I suppose that the pressure to play everything correctly will be difficult. Also, we will be producing and engineering the release ourselves, so that will add to the difficulty as well.
What is the name of this new release? And why this name? With 12 years of band how do you feel you to release a first full length?
The album will be called “Suffer the Consequences” because it is a name that fits the theme and mood of the lyrics. 12 years has been a very long time. Some of the songs on this album were written 10 or more years ago. We hope the metal world will see that we have always stayed true to our sound and we have never jumped on bandwagons or fashion trends. We have always stuck to our guns and it is an honor to be able to do this album and we hope you enjoy it.
Do you think it is hard release an album of an independent way in USA? Will it be difficult?
No, I do not think it will be difficult because we have all the tools we need to do it ourselves. We are not motivated by record sells or money. We want t be able to do things our way and stay true to the underground. We are self motivated and although we have had difficulties, we have always bounced back. For many years, Metal music as always been my love! It will feel good to have a release to offer the metal world. This release will be our small contribution to the greatest genre of music ever, Metal!
The band released 3 demos in 2003, 2004 and 2005 do you think include a song of these demos in the new album?
Yes! Several of the songs from the demos will be on the album. But we have rewritten all of them. This version of the band plays faster and with more dynamics. We have added some blast beats and more guitar solos. This line up has really brought the songs to life. We have made the song heavier,, moody and memorable. Here is the song list. False Hope, Expansion, Stained with Grief, Wither, Under Black Moons, Blood of the Priest, Endless Solitude and Soul Scarred.
Let’s talk about 3 of the best songs of this album:
A)Stained with Grief: This is a song that was giving to me in a dream. I was in a foggy cemetery and I could hear this haunting voice singing in the distance, I looked down and I saw my own grave, I saw how I will die and felt the bitter cold of that night. When I awoke, I could play this song on guitar and I knew all the words to it.
B)Blood of the Priest: This song was inspired by the Priest in the US movie, The Omen. The lyrics are a metaphor about seeking revenge against someone who has betrayed you; this person could be anyone who you trusted, a friend, a lover, a priest, a politician..and now you must lash out at them.
C)False Hope: Agony Divine is not a political band but this song does question some of the decisions that politicians make. Politicians will start a war and then leave it to others to fight. They hide behind lies and closed doors…they give us hope only to take it away and destroy our lives for their own greed.
The band had some changes do you think this affected to the band in some way?
Yes, it did affect us but in a positive way. This line up is our most solid ever and without the difficulties and changes, we would not have this line up today. The heart of the band is I and our drummer, Josh Greer. Many band members have come and gone. As of now, Ryan Greer is our newest bass player. I try to learn from the past, not worry about the past. I believe that people who truly have metal in their hearts and blood will never turn their back on metal or their friends. But sometimes people are not who you think they are so you have to stay true to yourself and move forward...Agony Divine is moving forward!
After of release this album do you think come to play in a tour to promote this new release?
Well, we hope to play as many shows as possible. It would be a dream come to if we are able to travel and play oversees We will play in all USA cities that we can but at this point we are taking things one step at a time. We can only wait and see.
