Interview to Abdullah Ghosheh of Viieden

Interview by Luis Landeo
Hails from Peru, is good to know Siria have the flame of metal, I know Viieden, is a new band, but I would like to know how the band started? the only I know many of you came of other bands.
Hails every one, thank you for interviewing us we are honored. Actually yes Hazem and Fadi -our vocalist and drummer- each have their own music projects going on, but that doesn’t mean Viieden is a side project in any way. We started years ago but never announced it until we had some materials ready to be released. Hazem and I got together and decided to start this band since we share almost the same taste in music and we named it “Kaboos”, which is the Arabic for Nightmare. Fadi joined as the drummer later on, completing the lineup and adding his brutal drumming to the mix. Basically that’s how Viieden was born.
The band have an Ep entitle: "Calamities Inflicted" how was work in this ep? and release it?
The two tracks of the EP are actually taken from the full length album, we saw that we should introduce ourselves to the listeners before presenting the full album, by releasing this EP as a sample of what will come next. Recording could never be more fun and pleasing, watching your work become whole, and by adding details here and there the tracks took their final shape.

The EP was released online and re-released by Grindbor Records after we signed with them. I know the band is working in a new full lenght, how goes the recording days? what is the name for this new album? and how is affecting the crisis in siria, with the recording?
Because, record a full lenght in days of crisis i bet is difficult Yes we are working on a full length album, we still haven’t given it a title yet. It consists of eight tracks, you already heard two on the EP and you’ll hear one soon as a single. As you mentioned, the crisis affected our life style in general, the recording process as well got slower, but we’re determined to make this happen no matter what. The album will be released also by Grindbor Records, hopefully in the near future.
By the way, I know the band didnt play yet with the problem of the crisis, and this is affecting the metal scene in siria too, but have you in mind play in other country?
We cannot play live shows here not only because of the war, but also because of the public’s take on Metal music in general, not to mention Metal it’s illegal in Siria and requires the authorities’ permission if one is lucky. Yes we wish to play live shows and we will definitely work on it once we have the chance.

What mean the name of: "VIIEDEN"?
The name of the band comes from two words: “VII” (number 7 in Roman numerals) and “Eden”.

Can you tell me about the metal scene in Siria?
You can describe what we’re witnessing now with the Syrian metal scene as the second wave of Syrian metal. There were many active bands many years ago like Absentation, Slumpark Correctional, The Hourglass and Nu.Clear.Dawn. And due to some social challenges the scene went through a hibernation like era, recovered recently bringing us new bands releasing great and unique sounding music such as Netherion, Eulen, Anarchadia and Abidetherein. It’s obvious that this thing will grow larger and larger, and some of these bands have already got well known internationally.
Thanks guys, hope for the release of your album, any last words?
Again, thank you for making this interview, thank you for shedding some light on us and on this troubled corner of the world. And I want to thank every one who took interest in us and supported Viieden, stay tuned people you will not be disappointed. Cheers every one!!!
