How does the band start?
The band got started in mid 1990 by me and a friend. The idea was to start a band that would not end after a couple of years. The music was to be a continuation of what bands did in the mid 80's.Your lyrics are about darkness, satanism do you think the word: Decayed represent that you want express in your music?
Well, if this world isn't "decayed" then you probably won't agree with the name. For me, "decayed" is the perfect description of what this society stands for, everything is "decayed", my Religion is "decayed", it's ancient monuments are "decayed", Honour is beyond "decay", so to me, DECAYED is the perfect name for this band. At least it is Real, not just some trendy word chosen to impress little kids.When are you planning to release your new album?
Right now we're recording a new MCD "Lusitanian Black Fucking Metal". We were supposed to be recording the new album "The Ancient Brethren", but since Black Seed (our label) is having lots of problems... it got delayed for next year. Right now I'm not sure if Black Seed still exists, therefor, next year I guess that we'll start looking for a new label.How is the Black Metal scene in your city in Portugal?
The Black Metal scene is shitty to say the least. When bands like CELTIC DANCE rip off other bands, destroy backstages and blame it on DECAYED... If these traitors are what Black Metal is all about, then for sure, DECAYED is not Black Metal. I care not for traitors and thieves.How many concerts and festivals have you guys already played?
In these 21 years, we played far too many gigs and festivals to name them.Do you think there is any chance of seeing you playing in a tour in South America?
I don't believe that we'll ever play outside of Europe. We are not a trend band, our audience is limited, and although we have been invited to play in the USA and South America, the money problem is always present and nothing ever happened.Do you have any message for the metal fans of your band?
Keep true to yourself. Your Word and your Honour are the only things that no one can take from you... if you have them. Hail the Ancient Gods, Fuck your God!
