Interview to Jason Sic Of Descendants Of Chaos

Interview by Luis Landeo
Welcome to Arsenal Del Metalero, well I know the band is working in an ep, but previously the band released one demo was uploaded in youtube, so why release an ep and not a full lenght? what things will have this EP?
Well, we will be keeping at least 2 songs from the demo with our recent line up change. We thought the new members had a very nice interpretation of their respective parts and wanted to re-record a fan favorite or two to capture that. To answer the other part of the question...the reason why "an EP and not a full length," I can only answer that from a personal point of view. When we added the new members, there were so many ideas for new songs that it really got me excited. Our new material was shaping up to be more like the D.O.C that we had envisioned in the beginning. Aaron brought back his hard-hitting style to the band. Coupled with his energetic stage performance, he is definitely the drummer that this band needed. Jimmy has his fluid bass melodies that are nothing short of brilliant. He also has a professional background in music that really helps guide us in the right direction. Then there is my son, Gadge...words can't even begin to describe the pride that I have in him. His solos are so well thought out and deliberate. He is going to do amazing things in life with his guitar. So with this much talent added to the mix, I believe we are all anxious to get the songs we have now recorded and out there for the fans to check out.
Well the band also worked in a video titled: "Smoking gun" well the concept of the video is like a zombie girl taking revenge, but well how was tape this video? how much money cost you tape it? and well are you thinking in tape a new music video?
Smokin' Gun was a video that we had done shortly after we released the first demo. It was done by Dead Kingdom Entertainment. These guys had a really cool idea to record a series of music videos, by different bands, to tell a complete story. Each video progresses the story along. They offered to give a free music video to help out with their idea, so we said yes. I never heard anything back about the story...I don't know if it was ever completed. We do plan on recording a new music video after the release of our EP.
What is the name of this new Ep? why this name?
We haven't really decided on a name yet. We will wait to see exactly which songs will make the grade to decide on a name.
Well maybe some readers will want to know this, but how the band started?
This band was actually formed through members of various other bands. We started out as Spoken Through Shadows, a four-piece band where I was the frontman. Then we changed drummers and decided it would be best to change the name. So when we added the new drummer, we were called Shattered Domain. Once again we lost our drummer and found Aaron. Aaron knew Trip, so we called him and added him to the mix. We all had some sort of a troubled background, so coming up with the name Descendants Of Chaos was a no-brainer. With Trip's politically driven lyrics, the name has come to encompass more of us as a society and the people in it standing up for our individual rights.
The band practice practicly an old school groove metal sound, but now the groove metal took other direction in a sound focus in brutalism with top bands like: chimaira, lamb of god, thy will be done and many other have you in mind turn the sound of the band for a sound extremely aggressive like the bands mentioned? and what is your general opinion about groove metal have now a great connection with hardcore metal sound and Death Metal
This is an easy question. We don't play what we play to try and fit in with other bands. We play what feels right. We each express ourselves as artists in each song we play. If we sound like another band or group of bands then it is purely coincidental.
After the release of this ep are you thinking in tour? I know the band have an under age member will be this a problem for touring?
I am not so sure about a "tour" but we will definitely be picking up more shows to promote the new material. As far as the underage member is concerned...we haven't had a problem yet.
The North Carolina metal scene is growing up and is having a lot attemption specially with death metal but how is the underground there? and when is the next show of the band? and for end this interview do you have a last message?
The underground scene here is aggressive with a lot of really cool people in it that do everything they can to help the scene progress. Some people that aren't even in a band will go out of their way to promote and push the scene further along. We have two shows in January: one on the 12th at Ricky J's in Charlotte and one on the 26th at the Fuel Depot in Salisbury.
