Interview to Nathan Adkins from Aggresor State

Interview by Luis Landeo
Welcome Nathan to Arsenal Del Metalero, can you tell in a short way how the band started?
Aggressor State first formed in 2005 with - Matt Porter, Bryan Poff, Aaron Baumoel, and Ben Hudson. We self-recorded our first demo, 'Driven to Destruction' in 2006. Years of writing metal music and playing live eventually brought Aggressor State to a complete halt during the summer of 2009. A major overhaul of the line up underwent during this time bringing the band to a new, three piece form consisting of - Matt Porter on vocals and guitars, Nathan Adkins on bass guitars, and Eddie Sherman on drums. We recorded our demo/album, 'No Perfect World' in the fall of 2010.
The band have one full lenght: No Perfect world, and now the band is working in other full lenght, how goes the recording session?
We are more then halfway through the writing process and hope to be in the studio in late 2012. The first album was recorded in only 3 days. This time around we are going to spend more time recording and mixing the album. There is going to be more variety in the riffs and song structures. It's going to sound like a mid-80's classic thrash album!
What is the name for this new album? and what is the concept for the lyrics in this new release?
We don't have a name for the album yet. The lyrics are going to focus on personal and introspective ideas, also on the harsh realities of social and political structures.
The band practice a good 80s thrash metal, but how do you see the new wave of thrash metal, now we see the back of bands like Hirax, and new thrash metal bands in the world like: Angelus apatrida (spain), necropsya (peru), violator (brazil)? what is your oppinion about it?
You can never relive the glory days of thrash metal in the 80's. I see the resurgance of thrash metal as a very positive trend. Hopefully can reclaim our territory and destroy the stagnated sub-genres of Heavy Metal in the 21st century.
Checking the pics of the band i found a curious thing, the drummer looks like an Anarcho-punk kid, so the band have punk influences? as everybody knows thrash metal is the mix of heavy metal with speed metal and hardcore punk.
Yes we are all really into punk rock and post-punk. The main punk influances are The Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, The Misfits, Social Distortion, Black Flag, Bad Brains, and moving on into the post-punk era we like Joy Division, Killing Joke and Kommunity FK etc. It seems like more modern metal bands are influanced by the latest trend in heavy metal rather than going back to the roots of what made it special in the beginning.
Well that is true about punk rock i prefaire THE sex pistols (cuz big thrash metal bands like megadeth and anthrax played covers of them) than hear that shit of NO FX, SUM 41, BLINK 182, offspring, etc
Any last message to finish?
My last words are: Stand up for what you believe in. Be yourself and don't hide behind false images and large egos, and never stop trying to achieve your goals in life. Check out aggressor State on facebook. Thanks for the interview Luis!!!!
