Interview to Kevin Quirion of Deicide

Interview by Luis Landeo
Welcome again Kevin to another interview, after a good year I back to interview, but let me say: congratulations for the release of this brutal new album with Deicide, how do you felt you after the release of this album? and what is your opinion about all the reviews many fans are doing about this first work with Deicide?
Hey man, nice to be back. We are all very pleased with the way the new album turned out. It's brutal, catchy and has lots of grooves. Everything that I got into the band for back in the day. The reviews have been very good for the most part. A lot of references to the first four albums from the band. Whatever people associate it with is fine with me.
The lyrics of this album was wroten by Glen Benton, but I will ask you about the riffs of you wrote for this album, how was write the riffs for this album? and how do you took inspiration to write the riffs taking the lyrics of Glenn? or the process was write the riffs and then the lyrics? tell me about this process
We come up with the music first and then much later Glen will write the lyrics. Sometimes after we've recorded in the studio. The riffs for this album I already had written. I went through riffs that I've collected and played them for the guys at practice. Anything they liked we worked on. Then we started structuring songs and using Jack's riffs and rearranging anything that needed work.
In the process of recording days, many photos was released in this studio days, but can you tell about any experience recording this album? and how was work with: Jason Suecof and Alan Douches, Ronn Miller and Eyal Levi? by the way is good to see they dont fight to know who is the best sound engineer in this album (laughs)
Yeah those guys all get along well. They keep so busy, it isn't a competition. The recording went very smooth. We took our time and worked every detail out. Jason is great to work with and really knows what he's doing. Ronn is always there to help out with anything that is needed. Eyal worked on the drums and did an amazing job. Jason was the middle man for Alan who mastered the album and he sent different versions for us to see which we liked best. There was a real nice flow to the entire process.
The art of this album represent in some way a demoniacal possession, but why Glenn dont wrote a lyric about it? and what is your personal oppinion about this cover art represent the album?
I really like the cover. It's creepy and the art is very well done. The title track is about the art though. The idea is that evil controls the mind in some situations. As soon as Glen showed us the art, I was into it.
This month was posted in Youtube a musical video with a song of the new full lenght, well very appart the video have a good quality, do you think is really important produce a music video in this days? and whats your oppinion about many tv channels played music videos like MTV, but now they dont play music videos anymore?
Music videos are just a way to get people to hear the songs. There aren't any real outlets on tv anymore, but youtube has taken over. There are a lot of bands these days and everyone can make a killer video for cheap and post it online. We first put out a static video and then a lyric video and then the traditional video. These days you just try and get peoples attention if you can. There's a lot out there.
With the release of this album, have the band in mind give another tour? and how was your experience in this last shows playing with your new family (Deicide)?
We just did a US tour with Broken Hope the month before the album came out. It went very well. I've always enjoyed playing with these guys and I can't wait till we start playing some of these new songs. Right now we only have a couple shows booked for March in Mexico and Costa Rica, but have a lot planned for the new year.
Well to end this interview Kevin, do you have any last message to your fans and Arsenal Del Metalero readers?
Just give the new album a listen and I hope you enjoy it. Hope to see you guys out on the road. Thanks.
