Interview to Zebb Nilsson of AEON

Interview by Luis Landeo
Welcome again Zebb, for me is great say: congratulations for the release of the new album, I had the chance to listen the album and sounds great, really a great job, extremely brutal. is funny say the album was released the same day of my birthday so it was good to know. So my first question is how many months took record this new full lenght and where you did the recording session?
It took less than 2 weeks to record and only a few says to mix and master so it went pretty quick. It was recorded and produced by Ronnie Björnström at empire studio and mixed and mastered by Ronnie also at his own studio garageland studios.
In the last interview, you answer me you was thinking write a song about apocalypto of mel gibson, finally you wrote that lyrics for: Aeons black? and what is the name of that song?
The lyrics I mentioned back then was for the song Sacrificed from Aeons Black.
The art of this album is totally different than the rest of releases, now is totally dark, who was the artist? and how born the idea of a demon flying in a dark sky?
Yeah cause in the past we have only had covers that were made in photoshop. But now we wanted a painted cover so we asked Kristian "Necrolord" wåhlin and he did all the ideas for the cover.
You play with a guitar of 7 strings, usually thats not common in bands are involve in "true" metal, but this give to AEON a complete aggressive sound than the rest of death metal bands, and well play a guitar with 7 strings looks very complicated so how easy and difficult result compose music with a guitar of seven strings? can you with a secret or tip for guitar players can play like you?
I have only had 7-stringed guitars since maybe -99 or -00 so it's easier for me to play on them. In fact I cannot really play a 6-stringed right now cause it would take a day or two to get used to it. But with Aeon we really use all 7 strings and not only the 3 thickest ones like many NU metal bands do. I don't really have a secret tip.
Well in every interview I had the chance to read about your band, journalist ask always: "Why do you hate Christianity so much?" (obviously "hate" born from a phobia or maybe a bad experience with some kind of religion or ideology) we talked about this in the last interview, but practicly all the 95% of the lyrics in all the history of Aeon are about the same thing, do you think exist a possibility to change the lyrics with other dark message? you know exploring the darkside
Yeah probably. The title track "Aeons Black" is pretty much about when the sun has burned out and nothing but death remains. So what could be darker than that? But it also involves some questions to people that put their faith to their gods.
What equipment do you use for play and record Aeon Music?
On Aeons Black we used a Schecter Black jack C-7 ATX with Seymour Duncan BlackOut pickups on. Next we had a Maxon OD-808 boost pedal and then one Peavey 6505 mixed with a Tapp Marzian and a Marshall 4x12" cabinet for the guitars. For the bass we had a Warwick with EMG pickups and a Ampeg SVT-4 Pro bass amp and finally an Ampeg 8x10" cabinet. The drums that we used is a top notch kit made by Tama. The kit is called Bubinga.
In many interviews nobody asked you about why the name of: "AEON" cuz Aeon means "Age" and the lyrics of the band are about antichristianity, so what was the reason for this name?
We wanted a different kind of name. Cause at this point there were so many bands called something like Deathvomit and stuff like that. We didn't want a too typical death metal band name. Aeon was good cause it was a little different but still it fitted for a death metal band.
Recently the band have a new drummer: Emil Wiksten, how were you called emil? and why Arttu Malkki left the band?
We actually met Emil two years ago at Neurotic Deathfest in holland when both Aeon and his band Blood Red Throne played there. He was a big Aeon fan and he tock pictures of us and stuff. Later now when Arttu told us that he and his girlfriend was expecting twins we asked Emil to play with us cause Arttu will for sure have a lot to do the next 1-2 years to come.
Well bro, hope can see you in south america and for end this interview do you have any last words for your southamerican fans?
I don't remember what brave words I had, but I guess it was something like this; hope we come to South America to play for you guys. We would love to come there and enjoy some nice weather that we don't have in Sweden right now. And South American metal fans seem to be really cool when they go to shows. I'd like to see that for myself soon.
