Interview to Adam and Gary from Pro-Pain

Interview by Luis Landeo
Is great have this interview to one of the best Hardcore Metal bands from Usa, welcome Adam How are you?, well i know you are new in the band: how do you feel you to play in Pro pain? and how were you called to be the new Pro Pain member?

Adam: Hello everyone! It honestly is quite a thrill to play in Pro-Pain. They've been a great live band with an awesome stage presence all along, so it's been really exciting to be a part of that. Marshall Stephens and I have known each other for 10 years, and have played in several bands together throughout the last decade, so there was already a musical chemistry in place. In 2011, Tom Klimchuck began dealing with some potentially serious health issues that forced him to depart from the band. Marshall suggested to Gary that he audition me as Tom's replacement, and we all got together to see if it would work out. Our personalities (both literally and musically) complimented each other, and I was asked to be the new lead guitarist. I feel lucky to have really great people as bandmates. This could have been an awkward position to be in, due to Tom's tenure and how involved he was with the band, but everyone including our fans have made me feel welcome, so thanks to all!How was the last pro pain tour? and what can you tell me about it?
Adam:
The last tour was actually broken into 3 parts over 6 months, each run lasting one month. When it was all over, we played 56 shows in 15 countries. We mostly visited western European countries, but on the last part of the tour (back in October) we did 2 weeks in the eastern territories (Romania, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary, etc.). Over the course of this tour, we shared our bus, stage, and lives with 7 bands from 6 different countries. A lot of really good friendships were forged and we shared some great experiences together. We played a handful of festivals during May - July with fellow bands such as D.R.I, Terror, Mastodon, Fozzy, Slipknot, and too many more to name.Well this year the band release the compilatory album: "20 Years of Hardcore", so are you thinking maybe in a tour for europe or south america to can celebrate this 20 years like band?
Adam:
Well, the 3 part tour we just finished was to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pro-Pain. Unfortunately we were unable to schedule any South American shows, but we certainly hope to tour there in the future! For the first half of our show each night of the tour, we played the "Foul Taste of Freedom" record in it's entirety. The second half of the set contained a retrospective of songs from almost every other Pro - Pain album up to "Absolute Power".How do you see the evolution of Pro pain in all this years?
Gary:
In my opinion, the evolution of Pro-Pain is multi faceted. We are constantly evolving as writers, performers, and as people. On the same note, we maintain our ethics, our musical standards and lyrical responsibility. The more things change, the more they stay the same. With this practicly 20 years what was the best moment in pro pain?
Gary:
As one can imagine, there have been many proud moments throughout the course of our career and unfortunately quite a few tragedies and heartaches as well. However, if you are a firm believer in "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger", then we are a strong band by definition. Some of our career highlights include:
-20 years of Pro-Pain-
-12 Studio Albums and several other CD and DVD releases-
-Playing some of the biggest Open Air festivals in the world-
-Playing a sold-out European Arena Tour w/ Bohse Onkelz-
-Performing over 3,000 concerts in over 35 countries-
-Album sales of over one million units-
-Having the unique opportunity of traveling to so many fantastic places, meeting so many wonderful people, all the while enjoying every minute of it and never taking it for granted.Pro pain before to be a big band what was the most difficult moments before to get the fame?
Gary:
Yes, there were many difficult times, especially in the first few years. Often more than 300 gigs per year. During those times, we were solely focused on developing a fanbase. We played anywhere and everywhere, and by 1996 the band was "in the red" over a quarter million dollars. Then came Contents Under Pressure, and things changed dramatically. That album broke big on the European album sales charts, and we turned into an international headliner. The rest is history. In retrospect, despite all of the blood, sweat, and tears, we have been fortunate. With 12 albums of studio what is your favorite album and why?Gary: I can't say that I have a favorite Pro-Pain album. In my opinion, each album serves as a bit of a barometer for what was going on with Pro-Pain and the world around us at the time it was created. So, each is special to me in that sense. For nostalgic reasons, I love Foul Taste Of Freedom. For a dose of sheer angst and awareness, I'll put on Age Of Tyranny. I enjoy aspects of each one of our albums, and yet I'm hoping that our next will be considered our finest!!Is the band working in a new studio album? and what is the possible name of this new release?
Adam:
Yes, there is something in the works. We're in the process of writing the material that will appear on the new album right now, so we haven't yet come up with a title. This will also be the first release featuring our new drummer, Jonas Sanders, as well as myself. Stylistically speaking, I don't think our new record will stray from the traditional Pro-Pain sound. How are going the days in the studio? are you working with a record producer?
Adam:
Right now there is talk of us once again entering the studio with V.O. Pulver (producer; Absolute Power). I met him in Switzerland during the 2nd part of the 20th anniversary tour back in July, and really enjoyed his conversation and company. He's a great guy and he did a fantastic job with the last record, so it would be a thrill for me to get to work with him. When do you think release the new album? and why this date?
Adam: Right now we're aiming for a late spring / early summer release date. It really all depends on when we go into the studio to record. We will be touring in Europe again during festival season (summer 2012), and would love to have the new album available to our fans by then. Thanks, to end this interview do you have a last message for the latin fans?
Adam and Gary:
Thank you for this interview, and thanks to our Peruvian and South American fans for their support. We hope to be able to bring to you our live show sometime!!
