Interwiew to Glenn from Destruktor

"I can express whatever I fucking want, but it just as much an aggression release than preaching. "
Interwiew by Luis Landeo
hi glenn How does the band start?
Started in 1995 as Aphasia, changed name to DESTRUKTOR in 1997, done demos, 7"'s, split 10", MLP, and finally, in late 2009, NAILED was unleashed to the masses. We have had many challenges, particularly with drummers, but we are stable now, charging forwards!!!
why did you change the name of the band?
Well after the demo was done as APHASIA, Jarro left the band, and I continued on my own. I continued to write music, Jarro decided to rejoin, but wanted a fresh start, and to release something a bit more extreme, and have a different name to signal the improvement, and change of the band. From there, no looking back!. your lyrics are about darkness, satanism and armaggeddon do you think the word: Destruktor represent that you want express in your music?
DESTRUKTOR is absolutely fitting for the band. It instantly has a link to destruction, and is obviously suited to a metal band. Too bad NIHILIST is taken, that would suit us also

you have a few demos and splits album are you thinking to produce a new album?
Yes, DESTRUKTOR is my release. I can express whatever I fucking want, but it just as much an aggression release than preaching. Extreme music to coincide with extreme thoughts and ideas.

when are you planning to release your new album?
Well we have about half the album written. i would expect after our next few gigs we will put our haeds down and finish some songs, write another 3 or so songs, and record at the end of 2011, maybe early 2012, but I am aiming for the end of this year. I guess it will not be released until sometime in 2012.
how is the metal scene in australia?
In my city, Geelong, there are no killer bands. They are either noise/punk stuff, or they are gothic, or new core melodic cross breed shit. Not my thin at all. However, down the highway, in Melbourne, there are some killer bands such as Stormbane, Ignivimous and Cemetery Urn. Overall, the scene here is not too bad,
there are a couple of decent promoters, and a few decent venues. Local support is up and down. Sometimes you can get a decent turn out, but other times it is a bit shit!! Interstate bands such as Vomitor, Cauldron Black Ram, Portal all play killer stuff, and stand above most bands as far as Í am concerned.
There are not so many good bands coming through now, but there is still hope!

How many concerts and festivals have you guys already played?
We have played maybe 30 gigs over about 10 years. Mostly pub gigs, but occasionally a bigger gig, at a bigger venue, with a bigger crowd, but mostly, I prefer pub gigs. We have about 6 gigs lined up in the next 4 months, so you can see that we are a bit busier than usual.
and Do you think there is any chance of seeing you playing in a tour in South America?

I would fucking love to play South America, particularly Chile, we seem to have many maniacs into DESTRUKTOR over there. Also I believe that Peru and Brazil would be good to us. I have had mail from these 3 places for over 10 years, and it would be good to get there. First we are doing New Zealand then I hope to get to Europe in late 2011/early 2012. After this, we will look at Canada, USA and South America. So maybe, it depends on the offers.
