Entrevista a Terji Skibenæs de Tyr

Hails Terji, bienvenido a Arsenal Del Metalero, para mí es un placer tener una entrevista contigo, ¿cómo van las cosas con Tyr? y ¿tienen la banda pensado trabajar y lanzar un nuevo álbum? debido a que el último álbum fue "Valkyrja", que fue lanzado en el 2013 y ¿tiene la banda pensado en trabajar un DVD también?
Hola. Las cosas van muy bien, tenemos un descanso ahora hasta abril así que podemos centrarnos en el nuevo material. Así que estamos en el proceso de escribir nuevas canciones. Un nuevo álbum se espera que sea lanzado a finales de este año. No hemos hablado de un DVD todavía, pero espero que sea pronto.

En el último álbum se incluyó un cover de Pantera, y tu Terji tienes un tatuaje de "Cowboys From Hell (CFH)" así que ¿cómo Pantera y la música Groove Metal influyeron en el sonido de Tyr?
Es mi CHF tatuaje. No creo Pantera haya influido en nuestro sonido. Es más Black Sabbath, Metallica, Iron Maiden y así sucesivamente. Pero Pantera es absolutamente mi banda de metal favorita de todos los tiempos.

El último álbum contó con la participación de Liv Kristine, ¿cómo fue trabajar con ella en el último álbum? y ¿cómo fue grabar el video musical de "The Lay Of Our Love" con ella?
Fue muy fácil, sólo le mandamos la canción y la cantó en su propio estudio y nos la envió de nuevo a nosotros. Grabamos el video en Belgrado, y fue muy profesional y Liv es una persona tranquila, así que todo fue muy rápido y bien.

Tyr se inspiran en muchos mitos y tradiciones de los vikingos, ¿Que mitos nórdicos o historias de la historia vikinga te inspiraron? y ¿cómo compones la melodía y riffs de la música de Tyr?
Es Heri que se inspira en los mitos nórdicos, así que realmente no puede responder a eso. Algunas de las canciones están enraizadas con las viejas canciones tradicionales de las Islas Feroe y las hacemos en Metal. Pero la mayoría de nuestras canciones están escritas sólo por nosotros. Solemos grabar demos en casa y luego nos los enviamos entre sí, luego los demás podemos cambiar algunas partes y así sucesivamente. Por lo general tenemos todas las canciones hechas y listas cuando entramos al estudio.

¿Qué equipo utilizas para grabar la música de Tyr? y ¿cuáles son tus influencias de Metal para tocar la guitarra?
Yo uso principalmente guitarras 7 cuerdas Ibanez y ENGL o Mesa Boogie amperios. En función de las piezas que estoy tocando. Mis mayores influencias son Dimebag Darrell, Kirk Hammett y Slash.

Valkyrja contó con la participación también de George Kollias en las baterias ¿cómo fue su trabajo? y bueno, en realidad la banda tiene ahora un nuevo baterista y es: Amon Djurhuus, ¿cómo se lo llamó para ser el nuevo miembro de Tyr?
Él fue absolutamente genial. Clavó las canciones de inmediato en el estudio. Creo que sólo utilizo 2 días para grabar todo. Él es uno de los mejores bateristas de todos. Amon llegó a ser el nuevo miembro porque éramos amigos con él en el primer lugar y él es un gran baterista.

¿Cómo fue la última gira de Tyr? y qué experiencias bien puede usted decir al respecto?
Nuestra última visita fue en Europa en diciembre junto con Sabaton y Korpiklaani. Un montón de cosas locas pasaron, pero lo que sucede en la gira se mantiene de gira.

Bueno, para terminar esta entrevista ¿tienes un mensaje para los fans de los lectores Tyr y Arsenal Del Metalero?
Manténganse atentos hacia nuestro nuevo álbum, que esperamos sea lanzado a finales de este año. Estamos muy emocionados de iniciar las grabaciones y que podamos ofrecer algunas cosas nuevas para ustedes!

Interview to Terji Skibenæs of Tyr

Hails Terji, welcome to Arsenal Del Metalero, for me is a pleasure have this interview with you, how goes the things with Tyr? and have the band thinked work and release a new album? because the last album was "Valkyrja", released in 2013 and have the band thinked work in a DVD too?
Hi. Things are going great, having a break now until April so we can focus on new material. So we’re in the process of writing new songs. A new album will hopefully be released late this year. We haven’t talked about a DVD yet, but hopefully that will happen soon.

In last album was included a cover song of Pantera, and you Terji have a tattoo of "Cowboys From Hell (CFH)" so how Pantera and groove metal music influyed in Tyr sound? 
It’s my CHF tattoo. I don’t think Pantera has influenced our sound at all. It’s more Black Sabbath, Metallica, Iron Maiden and so on. But Pantera is my absolute favourite metal band of all time.

Last album had the participation of Liv Kristine, how was work with her in last album? and how was record the music video of "The Lay Of Our Love" with her?
It was very easy, we just sent her the song and she sang it in their own studio and sent it back to us.
We recorded the video in Belgrade, and it was very professional and Liv is an easy going person, so everything went very quick and well.

Tyr are inspired in many myths and traditions of the vikings, what nordic myths or stories of viking history inspired you? and how do you compose the melody and riffs for Tyr music?
It’s Heri that is inspired by the the nordic myths, so I can’t really answer that. Some of the songs are arranged from very old Faroese traditional songs and we make them into metal. But most of our songs are just written by us. We usually record demos at home and then send them to each other, then the others can change some parts and so on. We usually have all the songs done and ready when we go in to the studio.

What equipment do you use to record Tyr music? and what are your metal influences to play guitar?
I mainly use 7 stringed Ibanez guitars and ENGL or Mesa Boogie amps. Depending on the parts I’m playing. My biggest influence would be Dimebag Darrell, Kirk Hammett and Slash. 

Valkyrja had the participation too of George Kollias in the drums how was his work? and well actually the band have a new drummer and is: Amon Djurhuus, how was called him to be the new member of Tyr?
He was absolutely great. He nailed the songs right away in the studio. I think he only used 2 days to record everything. He’s one of the greatest drummers around. Amon got to be the new member cause we were friends with him in the first place and he’s a great drummer. 

How was the last tour of tyr? and what good experiences can you tell about it?
Our last tour was in Europe during December together with Sabaton and Korpiklaani. A lot of crazy stuff happened, but what happens on tour stays on tour.
