Interview to Pascal of Carnage Of Children

Hails Pascal welcome to Arsenal del metalero i had the chance to listen some of the first full lenght of the band: Way of Darkness, Well i notice the lyrics are about the devil and sinister things so tell me in what things you get inspiration for write this lyrics?
Hails! Our album « Way Of Darkness » talks about Satan, who lives in each of us, the way we live with suffering and abominations throughout our life, and which is driving us to the destruction and chaos. We denounce religions to bring conflicts, wars and horrors. We despise mankind because beliefs (that humans are living for) are taking the world to his loss.

I know the name of the band was a joke between gary and you, but why you took the desition of name the band like: Carnage of children, and how born that joke? and well a lot peruvian readers will want to know how this band started? 
I don’t remember exactly how it happened, perhaps I woke up and that was the big revelation ahahaha! This name means and describes the violence of our music and lyrics, that you can’t put in every ears! (laughs)!!!!!! Gary met Hugo (the second guitar player) at the age of 12 at school, they were metal extreme big fans. They decided to make a band three years later, with me (at the bass) and our first drummer. Carnage of Children was born in November 2006.

How many concerts the band played in their musical career? what was the best show of the band? and do you have in mind for a tour (not only europe, that can be include north america and south america) for this 2013? 
About fifty. The best one it was in Lyon (France) our hometown, where a part of the audience get up on stage with us to sing the chorus of “Extinction Of The Race”, the last song of this show! It was awesome, more than 30 people with us, it moved everywhere and we almost couldn’t play! (laughs)!!!!!! 2013 is not completely booked, but we will play everywhere, we are motivated if the conditions are right!

I know the band dont have a label yet, so tell me was difficult release the album without a label?
well now we are in the mp3 age, so do you think for a band without a label mp3 is the enemy of the bands and can sell their stuff or is a help for spread the music? 
To make an album is expensive and we have to pay for it ,that’s very hard! I think mp3 is a help for spread our music all over the world, our album is downloadable on many website like amazon for example.

Well lets talk some of the full lenght: way of darkness, how was the process of recording and compose the music? 
All words and music are composed by Gary, except for 2 songs where Hugo worked too. We entered the Pogoson studio (Villeurbanne France) for two weeks in November 2010. The first week drums and rythm guitars were recorded, then bass and vocals and the guitar leads were recorded at my home studio. Our album "Way Of Darkness" is available since may 2011.

Pascal I know you are 53 years old, can you tell me how was the evolution of french metal scene? and how is the french metal scene in this last years? what is the difficult of play in a doom/death metal band in a country like france? (cuz i know the scene there is more of Metalcore and Industrial Metal)
(Laughs) I was afraid you'd say that I was too old for the extreme metal!!!! French metal scene is moribund, not because of the bands but because of the public. I mean there are too many bands and only a small public! Only “commercial” bands or big famous international machines that bring people in venues! And also metalcore band and punk! In our extreme metal style, the only solution for us to have a reputation is to try to play in other countries. FUCK France!

Are you thinking in work in other release for next year? 
We are working on the next record. We are going to take 5 songs from the EP “Extinction” (2008) and 3 unreleased songs. We ‘re going to the Studio in a few weeks and the record is normally coming out in early 2013.

The band had only 2 changes of members, how affected that to the band? and well the band started in 2004 but why took a lot years for release an demo in 2008 and the full lenght in 2011? 
The band started in 2006 and as I said above recording, it’s really expensive to do it when you have to pay for it. The arrival of Anthony on drums increased violence in our music, and Alexandre as lead singer allowed Gary more focus on his role as lead guitar.

Maybe I will sound curious for this question, well like i said the lyrics of the band are practicly about satan and darkness, but the art of the full lenght are the gates of a cemetery, what is the concept behind the fontcover of this full lenght? who did the art by the way? 
The artwork was made by Alexandre’s girlfriend Allison. It represents the long way strewn with dead and displeasure, that leads to darkness, deliverance for many of us after a miserable life!

Entrevista a Kevin Quirion de Deicide

"...Glen nombrará el álbum cuando comience a trabajar en las letras.."

Bienvenido Kevin a Arsenal Del Metalero, para mí es un gran honor entrevistarlo, sé que eres el nuevo guitarrista oficial de deicide desde el año pasado, pero tal vez los fans latinos de deicide querrán saber cómo glenn benton te llamo a ser el nuevo guitarrista oficial de Deicide? 
Tengo otra banda con el baterista de Deicide: Steve Asheim. Tenían un par de shows en Europa y necesitaban a alguien con bastante rapidez. Yo estaba ahí cuando él estaba pensando en quien iba meter. Nuestro bajista, Patrick Scott, dijo: "Sólo tienes que utilizar a Kevin." Eso fue todo. Conocí a Glen en el primer ensayo. Antes de tocar con ellos, fui a la casa de Steve y tomen la tabulacion de todas las canciones en vivo que estaban haciendo así que estuve preparado.

Sé que te unistes a la banda en el verano del 2009 y que dejastes la banda en el 2010, ¿por que dejó la banda en ese tiempo?  
Siempre he sido un guitarrista en los en vivo cuando a Ralph no estaba. A pesar de que se decía que era un miembro en ese entonces, yo era sólo para los shows en vivo.

Deicide esta trabajando en un full lenght, ¿cómo están los dias de componer la música para esta nuev full lenght? y ¿qué podemos esperar de este nuevo álbum? ¿tiene usted un nombre para esta versión? y ¿cómo se siente usted de participar en el nuevo full lenght de deicide? 
Yo esperaría un nuevo álbum en algún momento del 2013. No estoy seguro aun. Tenemos la mayoría de las cosas escritas en este momento con sólo algunos arreglos para trabajar en octubre Letras y solos todavía tienen que ser aun escritos, pero la base de la mayoría ya han sido colocados. Glen nombrará el álbum cuando comienze a trabajar en las letras. En cuanto a mi participación, eso sera genial. Todos nos ponemos juntos a componer canciones. Todo el mundo tiene riffs y canciones. He escrito un par de álbumes con Steve antes, así que tenemos un sistema bastante bueno y el procedimiento para la escritura y demos.

¿Crees que esta nueva versión será producida por Mark Lewis y grabada en los Estudios Audiohammer Como en: "To Hell With God"?
Esas decisiones son solo de Glen y Steve. Lo mismo para reservar espectáculos y cualquier otra cosa que surja. Me uni a una banda con una historia de mas 20 años así que sé cual es mi lugar. Sólo me callo y hago mi trabajo.

Sé que eres guitarrista y cantante Kevin en Order Of Ennead, ¿cómo van las cosas en tu banda (shows, etc)? ¿crees que existe la posibilidad de girar otra vez con deicide y Order Of Ennead como ambas hicieron en el 2009 con Vital Remains? y ¿piensan en una gira con deicide en América del Sur el próximo año?
Order Of Ennead estan tomando un descanso por un rato, pero es posible que las cosas funcionen aquí y muy pronto. Deicide está haciendo una breve gira por los EE.UU. en Noviembre y después de que llegáramos a grabar un demo. Ya tengo suficiente material escrito y listo para ir a un álbum de larga duración, pero necesitamos de la demo y comprar la vuelta a algunos labels. Estoy disfrutando mucho de escuchar las nuevas canciones y me encantaría de un nuevo álbum en el 2013 con Deicide. Estoy seguro de que volveremos a América del Sur, pero no estoy seguro de cuándo. Los fans de ahí abajo son geniales. También vamos a ver si giraremos Order of Ennead y Deicide de nuevo. Es mucho tener a los dos conjuntos por noche.

Pues este año la banda tuvo giras en todos los estados de USA, ¿cómo estuvieron los viajes? ¿En qué ciudades la banda tocó? y ¿cual fue el mejor lugar para tocar en esta gira y por qué? 
En marzo del 2012, hicimos una gira por los EE.UU. y Canadá. Tocamos un montón de las grandes ciudades y alrededor de una semana de conciertos en Canadá. Durante el verano hicimos un par de shows en Florida también. Me gusta mucho tocar en Los Angeles. Las multitudes son siempre muy grandes y realmente entran en la música. También es agradable para pasear y visitar la zona también. Sólo un buen momento a su alrededor.

Kevin eres un buen guitarrista y un cantante genial, ¿tienes algún consejo o sugerencia a los fans guitarristas y vocalistas metaleros? 
Agradezco las amables palabras. Todo es cuestión de práctica para mí. Yo toco a través de las canciones en mi propio estilo así que cuando voy a practicar ya estoy listo. Eso sólo ayuda a las actuaciones en vivo. Calienten tu voz antes de hacer un concierto o grabaciones y realmente a trabajar en la escritura de buenas canciones. Jugar con la gente se puede aprender de ellos y usted va a evolucionar como musico.

En lo que respecta sobre Order Of Ennead estan pensando en grabar un nuevo video musical? y ¿cómo fue la grabación de este gran video: The Concept Of Our Extinction? 
Estamos muy lejos de eso ahora. Tal vez después de grabar el demo y si alguien lo recoge. Todo depende de si el sello nos da un presupuesto para uno. Si lo hacemos, vamos a utilizar el director y hacerlo bien.

Bien ¿están trabajando en un full lenght nuevo? por que el último full lenght fue: "An Examination of Being" y el cual fue lanzado en el 2010 
Tengo las canciones. Arreglos sólidos y letras escritas, sólo tenemos que grabar un demo y comprar a las sellos. Algunos títulos de las canciones son "Our Human Frailty", "The Silence", "The Paradox Of Worship" y "An Offering Of Reason".

Para escribir la letra de Order Of Ennead ¿En qué se inspira? 
La letra es todo acerca de tratar de entender la razón de la vida. El cómo y el por qué existimos. Casi cada letra es acerca de este tema y es algo que siempre me pregunto.

Pues buena suerte kevin con las bandas y ¿tienes un mensaje para los fans de deicide deicide latinos y de todo el mundo? 
Pues atentos a la gira de Deicide y el álbum en el 2013. Order of Ennead esperan grabar un demo a principios de 2013. También soy parte de una nueva banda llamada Shadow Society que debería haber una demo que sale a principios del 2013. También va a la demo con otra banda que no tiene nombre todavía, pero ya está en marcha. Gracias por las preguntas y espero verlos a todos en el camino.

Interview to Kevin Quirion of Deicide

Welcome Kevin to arsenal del metalero, for me is a pleasure and big honor interview you, I know you are the new oficial guitarrist of deicide since last year, but maybe a lot deicide latin fans will want to know how glenn benton called you to be the new oficial guitarrist of deicide? 
I have another band with Deicide drummer Steve Asheim. They had a couple shows coming up in Europe and needed someone pretty quickly. I was standing right there when he was thinking of who to get. Our bass player, Scott Patrick, said "Just use Kevin". That was about it. I met Glen at the first practice. Before jamming with them, I went to Steve's house and tabbed out all the songs they were doing live so I would be prepared.

I know you joined the band in summer 2009 and you left the band in 2010, why you left the band for that times? 
 I was always just a live guitarist whenever they weren't using Ralph. Even though it was said I was a member back then, I was just for live shows.

Deicide will work in a new full lenght, how are going the days for compose the music for this new full lenght? and what can we expect for this new album? do you have a name for this release? and how do you feel you of participate in a new full lenght of deicide?
I'd expect a new album sometime in 2013. Not sure when though. We have most of the material written at this point with just some arrangements to work out. Lyrics and solos need to be written still, but the majority of the foundation has been placed. Glen will name the album when he begins working on the lyrics. As far as my participation, its been great. We all get together and put songs together. Everyone has riffs and songs. I've written a couple albums with Steve before so we have a pretty good system and procedure for writing and demoing out material.

Do you think this new release will be produced by Mark Lewis and recorded in Audiohammer Studios like in: "TO HELL WITH GOD"? 
Those decisions are for Glen and Steve. Same for booking shows and anything else that comes up. I'm joining a band with a 20+ year history so I know my place. I just shut up and do my job.

I know kevin you are singer and guitarrist in Order of Ennead, how goes the things in your other band(shows, etc)? do you think exist the chance of tour again with deicide and Order of Ennead like both bands did in 2009 with vital remains? and do you thik tour with deicide in south america next year? 
Order Of Ennead is taking a break for a little bit, but we may get things going here pretty soon. Deicide is doing a short US tour in November and after that we might be recording a demo. I already have enough material written and ready to go for a full length album, but we need to do a demo and shop it around to some labels. I'm really enjoying listening to the newer songs and would love to do another album in 2013. I'm sure Deicide will be back to South America, but I am not sure when. The fans down there are great. We'll also see if OOE and Deicide tour again together. It's a lot to do two sets a night.

Well this year the band had tours in all usa, how was that tours? in what cities the band played? and what was the best place to play in this tour and why? 
In March 2012, we toured the US and Canada. We played a lot of the major cities and about a week of shows in Canada. During the summer we did a couple shows in Florida also. I really enjoy playing Los Angeles. The crowds are always great and really get into the music. Its also nice to walk around and visit the area also. Just a good time all around.

Kevin you are a good guitarrist and a great singer too, do you have any tip or suggestion for the singer and guitarrist metal fans? 
I appreciate the kind words. Its all about practice for me. I will play through the songs on my own so when I go to practice I'm ready and that just helps live performances. Warm up your vocals before doing any shows or recordings and really work on writing good songs. Play with people that you can learn from and you will evolve as a player.

With respect about order of ennead are you thinking in record a new music video? and how was the recording of this great video: The Concept Of Our Extinction? 
We are a long way from that right now. Maybe after we record a demo and if someone picks it up. All depends if a label will give us a budget for one. If we do, we will use a director and do it right.

Well are you working in a new full lenght? cuz the last full lenght was: "An Examination of Being" and it was released in 2010 
I've got the songs. Arrangements are solid and lyrics are written, just need to record a demo and shop it to labels. Some song titles are "Our Human Frailty", "The Silence", "The Paradox Of Worship" and "An Offering Of Reason".

For write the lyrics of Order of Ennead in what do you get inspiration? 
The lyrics are all about trying to understand the reason of life. The how and why we exist. Almost every lyric is about this topic and is always something I wonder about.

Well kevin good luck with both bands do you have a message for deicide latin fans and the fans in all around the world? 
Look for Deicide on tour and an album in 2013. Order Of Ennead hopes to record a demo in early 2013. I am also part of a new band called Shadow Society that should have a demo coming out in early 2013. Also going to do a demo with another band that doesn't have a name yet, but is already in the works. Thanks for the questions and hope to see everyone on the road.

Entrevista a Jp Porteux de Chabtan

"...La muerte está muy presente en estas culturas. Así que era perfecto para nuestro proyecto! En las culturas europeas  la muerte es temida y es un tabú..."

SALUDOS Jean Philippe un placer conocerte, bienvenido a Arsenal Del Metalero ¿Como estas? 
Encantado de conocerte también, en Chabtan estamos muy bien, feliz y orgulloso de responder a sus preguntas.

Bueno Jp, tuve la oportunidad de escuchar el trailer de Chabtan y tengo que decir: chicos lo que están haciendo es un buen trabajo en el sonido de: "Eleven" EP, suenan tan agresivos, realmente un buen trabajo, pero dime ¿cómo nació la idea de escribir letras sobre los mitos mesoamericanos?
Bueno, si queremos hacer un poco de música metal deathcore/hardcore, principalmente queriamos tener un concepto alrededor de nuestra música. Sabemos que la mitología mesoamericana es muy rica y tiene culturas interesantes. Pero, sobre todo, la muerte está muy presente en estas culturas. Así que era perfecto para nuestro proyecto! En las culturas europeas, la muerte es temida y es un tabú. Es por eso que la música metal esta muy aparte de nuestra sociedad y tan cerca de la cultura mesoamericana que se enfrenta a la muerte y incluyen en su paisaje cultural.

Por cierto ¿qué significa chabtan? y por qué este nombre para la banda? 
CHABTAN, como usted sabe, es el nombre del dios de la muerte violenta y sacrificios humanos. Nos gusta la sensación. Es violento, agresivo y muy místico para nosotros. Y CHABTAN ilustra perfectamente el contraste entre la sociedad europea y la cultura mesoamericana, en relación con el sentido de la muerte, como se mencionó antes.

¿Cuántas canciones tendrá Eleven ep? y ¿por qué este nombre de Eleven? y ¿estan trabajando con un productor?
Eleven está compuesto de 8 pistas. Eleven es el número de muertes en los mitos mesoamericanos y se asocia con Buluc representacion de Chabtan, así que para un primer EP, nos parece probatorio. Por el momento, trabajar solo, todo es auto-coproducido y grabado en casa, pero esperamos un productor grabador para el próximo álbum!

Bueno es interesante que una banda francesa hable de la mitología americana, pero de los aztecas y del Popol Vuh ¿cuales son tus favoritos? y ¿por qué? a mí me gusta el mito de Hunahpú e Ixbalanqué hermanos por que siendo 2 tuvieron una pelea contra los dioses de la muerte, y eso es una leyenda de coraje. 
Sí, este EP, letras y grafismos se basan en mitos aztecas y Popol Vuh. Nuestros mitos favoritos son el mito sobre Thatecuhtli, una diosa azteca, que tiene una apariencia de cocodrilo y que fue desmembrada por Quetzalcoalt y Tezcatlipoca para componer el suelo y estratos celestiales. Nos gusta demasiado por nuestros nombres letras de dioses mayas, aztecas y su significado, como la del dios azteca Xipe Totec, Dios que llevaba máscaras y la ropa de la piel humana o de los Señores de la Muerte en el Xibalba en la mitología maya, el mito de Vucubcaquix, la monstruosa ave con las alas en la forma de la boca de serpiente. Hay tantos temas, mitos e historias y mitologías que son tan ricos que escribir para nuestros próximos discos.

Bueno, si hablamos de los mitos sudamericanos e historia en Perú se encuentran las leyendas más brutales como culturas, un ejemplo las leyendas muchicks con sus sangrientas historia sobre el dios: AIAPAEC y Naylamp, y lo mismo va para los Incas.  
El nombre de CHABTAN para nuestra banda se nos impone por su representación directa de la muerte, que es más accesible para los no iniciados. Es innegable que el paisaje andino, especialmente Perú, cuenta con una variedad de importantes leyendas violentas en varias culturas como: la Moche o Inca que usted mencionó. No es imposible que estas leyendas y sus personajes míticos aparezcan en nuestras futuras canciones y álbumes.

¿Quién fue el artista para este álbum?
Cada una de las canciones y letras están compuestas y escritas por los dos guitarristas: Jean-Philippe PORTEUX y MERLY Dimitri. Tenemos un buen equilibrio entre nosotros a escribir, nuestro próximo álbum futuro ya está escrito!

¿Tiene en mente un viaje después de la publicación de este EP? 
Para defender este primer álbum en el escenario, nos gustaría tocar en todas partes en Francia y espectáculos abiertos para bandas de metal especiales! En un segundo tiempo, queremos tocar en Europa, Bélgica, Polonia, Alemania, algunos países que aprecian la música metal, y esperamos que un día vamos a llegar a México, Brasil, Perú, Argentina!!

Por cierto ¿cómo va la escena del metal francés? yo oigo algunas bandas francesas como: Dagoba, Furia y Massacra 
Hay un montón de buenas bandas en Francia y un montón de conciertos. Te aconsejo que escuches a: GOJIRA, BLACK BOMB A, THE ARRS, AS THEY BURN, DEEP IN HATE ... Pero unas bandas tienes la oportunidad de tocar más allá de Europa. Pero estamos orgullosos de tener una fiesta de buen metal llamado el "Hellfest"!

¿Tienes un último mensaje para los lectores del Arsenal metalero en Sudamérica y el resto del mundo?
CHABTAN Hoy en día no es sólo un Dios, sino una banda de metal y espero que algún día nos reuniremos en el moshpit, donde la música metal y tradiciones ancestrales vendrá a la vida.
